Wiring problem? 1300 motor won't start.

Post by Jgoss »

I had my '66 body off the frame for a couple of years and taped all wire ends. Upon putting things back together, I want to get it started before I bolt the body back on and am having a problem.
I have attached my wires to the coil in the proper manner with the wire from the key switch on the 15/+ terminal and the wire from the carb / choke on the 1/- terminal and that black wire from ther carb gets hot when I turn on the key and nothing else happens.

If I put that wire on the 15/+ terminial, then the engine tries to turn over but won't start. All my fuses are new but I do have the original wire harness in there.

Any suggestions??

Your wire from the choke should be on the 15 side of the coil so its getting power. Try hooking a jumper wire from the coil to the voltage regulator if it starts this wayy either your ignition switch is bad or the coil is bad. hope this is some help.
