I had the same problem with mine on the very first day a got it, it ran for hours driving home, stopped for petrol, got back in and then it stalled as I was just getting back onto the motorway. It ended up just being a perished fuel hose leaking in abit of air when i stopped. But the best part was t...

Fair point there, its always something I overlook! It is however a duel port and ive fitted a Mondo Phat-Boy with 4-1 header (all ceramic) not for anything else other than it makes me laugh, its like when you see a dog with a massive set of nuts on show  I hear that they can be an absolute nigh...

What carburetors?

Hi all, Im running a 1641cc with a 32/36 progressive carburetor in my bug (009,electronic ignition, standard fly wheel blah blah), I know its the reasonable carb as its got the improved power for accelerating and stupidly good fuel economy at cruising speeds. But as its my summer toy and not my main ...

I Just had a look at the vin and its *117 212......, and doing some research I believe (unless im wrong) that gives it a DOB somewhere between August and September '66. So am I right thinking it was built in a sort of "change over" period? It would explain the decklid and kind of makes me ...

It does bounce a hell of an amount when you jump on the bumper so it sounds maybe like someone has pulled the torsion leaves out. What would you suggest I should do? I want it around the same hight (maybe I little lower ...

HELP, how has my 66 been lowered

The problem is as soon as I ride with a passenger it bottoms out on very little bumps in the road, its so bad that IF I BRAKE TO HARD WITH OR WITHOUT A PASSENGER THE FRONT DROPS ENOUGH ...

La frog and roast beef! Hello from england UK

Hello everyone, how are you today? My first and undoubtably not my last beetle!! After many years going to shows followed by the monotony of auto-trader / ebay I finally found a 66. Originally it was a Deluxe bahama blue 1300cc from Chambery savoie (within the foothills of the french alpes for all t...
