If you want to share in my insanity, my book is now available on Amazon.

Everyone probably remembers their very first car. My first car was a 1966 Volkswagen Beetle that I purchased shortly after my 18th birthday. It was a love affair with that car that would drain my bank account, create family drama, and provide some wonderful adventures. Those events, good and bad, and their effects on me are recounted in this book.

Ever since I turned the ignition key for the first time in 1975, I was happily stuck. Stuck in a obsessive compulsive love affair with a car that cost me more to fix, than if I had purchased it new.

It was a car that resulted in an ongoing argument with my dad as he tried to convince me to sell it.

However, there is something about a first car. There are thousands of stories told about how a first car is more memorable than a first love, or a first kiss. That may be true, and if you are lucky, you still have both.

Most people would be happy to have their first car back. While I couldn’t save my first ’66 from the drunk driver that would rip it out of my hands, I do have the same model year today.

This is the story of my ongoing obsession with the 1966 VW beetle.
