looking for the hot tube or heat riser tube

Post by hotair »

well im looking for the heat riser tube or the hot air intake for the air cleaner. below is a pic of my engine and you can see to the left there is a piece of flex tube missing from the tin up the air cleaner. i have replaced the silver fresh air tubes with some original style brownish black but need to find the smalish 3/4-1" size.

thanks ed :D

Its the pre-heat pipe. bring warm air from around the cylinders to the air cleaner.

VW's workshop manual quotes ' On the 1966 Beetle the air cleaner has a single air intake duct. The intake duct has a weighted flap valve which admits preheated air to the carburetor for starting and then, as the engine vacuum builds up, switches to cold air for warm engine operation. Warm air is drawn from around the cylinders'
