What are my options?

Post by Cribbs74 »

My 66' is missing the hazard switch knob. I am new to the party and see that they are hard to come by.

Does anyone make them? I hear a 67 will work, but don't see any of them either. I want it to look correct.

Can anyone steer me in the right direction?

Thanks,

Ron

Are you missing the switch or just the knob?

Yep. That's one of those '66 only things that makes it stand out from the rest.

I'm thinking the '67 switch is a larger diameter and has a bigger hole in the dash. The knob is also different, though the "EMERGENCY 88" red cap is the same. (Does anybody know what "88" means?)

Start scouring the swap meets.

You can find them at swap meets, or you local VW Bug Shop, E-Bay or junk yards. Be patient, some people want big bucks, but wait on a deal if you can.

They were on '66 buses as well as bugs, so that widens your search a bit.

Well, had a lucky day. Went to the local Bug store/ wrecker and asked if they had a knob. I was told no, but they had another used part I needed. When I went in the yard to look the part was wrong so I was told I was free to look around. First 66' I saw had the knob!!! So I grabbed it and was given it free for my troubles.
