Do the tail lights come on without the ignition key on?

My head lights work without the ignition key turned on. Just curious if the tail lights are supposed to be wired into the ignition also?

No. The tail lights and parking lights are not wired through the ignition.

The brake lights, horn, windshield wipers and turn signals are wired into the ignition.

I figured it out. The connection behind the tar board in the engine compartment came loose.
