1966 Front Hood question

Will other year hoods match? 65 or 67? either or both

If differences what are they?

Like you, I can't find a definitive cross reference for VW Beetle front hoods of various years. However from my experience, 65-66-67 should be compatible / interchangeable. The only difference I am aware of is the width of the chrome strip on the hood ...its narrower after 66. The front hood latch bracket and receiver are the same from 1950 through to 1967, so that might be a pretty good indicator that the hoods are interchangeable as well. Of course, the hood supports changed a bit over the years, but were pretty much the same from 1954 thru 1977.

My expertise is sketchy in a lot of areas, but I do know '64 to '66 hoods are the same, and earlier hoods will interchange, though they have minor changes for the earlier badges.

As was mentioned, the '67 hood had a narrower chrome strip and used different mounting clips, but can be drilled for the earlier-style chromestrip clips.
