Oil hose nipple just under filler cap - where does it go?

Post by rknowles »

So I'm looking around my new (to me) 1966 Beetle and there's a fitting on the underside of the oil filler neck, just under the cap, that looks like a hose should be on it. I'm replacing it, of course, but where does the other end of the hose go? Somewhere on the crank case?

Here's a picture of a stock engine.

Mine's a little different to that, but essentially it's on the filler neck. The one in the pic has a hose going up to the air cleaner, and what looks like a solid pipe going in the opposite direction down therough the floof of the engine bay. Where does that one go to?

That's just a draft tube. The hose should go to the air cleaner for positive crankcase ventilation.
