Engine Oil Queries

Post by KKV270 »

Hi.

Just got to see on the site technical page that the 1966 engine is 5.3US pints of engine oil (which is the equivalent of about 2.5 Ltrs).

Are there any dangers in having too much oil in the engine? I have about 4 ltrs in my engine.

How can I safely drain the excess If it is a concern?

Yes, you have too much oil. As you stated above, 5.3 pints or 2.5 liters. Drain the extra out of the through the drain plug (21mm) on the bottom of the motor and then check your oil level using the dip stick. It should be between the upper and lower notch on the dipstick.

Engine Oil Queries

Hi Herc

I did do so early the next day and confirmed the levels with the dip stick. Glad to be on the safe side.

I did a 60Km trip after the above- all is running in an impressive way.. these being speed and milage. I am a happy bug driver/owner.

Cheers.

I know what you mean. I've been wrenching on mine lately. It turned out to be that the fuel pressure was too high. Now that is fixed and I've been driving everywhere. :D
