What year car do I have??

Post by kchudy08 »

Hello everyone I am new here and I have purchased a car that I am being told is a 66. I was looking on the site at the section that has the model year changes for the 66 and noticed some things that are different from what I got. On the site it said that they put a vent in the center of the dash for better defrosting, and the dimmer switch is not on the floor but up on the turn signal lever. What I would like to know is are these changes that were made on every 66? Or could I have gotten a different model year. I am going to pick the car up on Saturday so I don't have access to the vin at this time to check the year. I do have pics of the car that show the dash if that might help. Any help in this matter would be great. Thank you in advance.

Looks like a '65.

The first three numbers of the chassis number should tell the tale: They should be 116. A '65 will be 115.

I finally got the car home. The vin is 115402774. If the other site that I have been on is correct then it is a 65. The price was right and it is going to need a lot of work. But I am up for the challenge.

the third digit is a "5" so you have a '65, plus there's no center vent on the dash('66 and '67)
