68 starting issue

Post by big_orange_bug »

hey all, So I've been reading through similar forums related to starting problems and I'm not sure if I have the same issue. My motor is a from a 68, its 12v, and I can't get any spark. It just decided not to start on me one day. I tried push starting it and nothing. So I figured it was an electrical problem(s). Problem one is a wiring disconnect to the coil. that one's easy, so I bypassed that to make sure that the coil was getting electricity and still no spark. I checked to see if the coil was making sparks and it was. So I removed a spark plug to see if it would spark when connected to the distributor lines and the engine turned over, and nothing. I'm assuming that that means its a distributor problem? any help is greatly appreciated, along with wiring diagrams. I want to make sure that the wiring is right. Thanks all

Sounds like distributor to me. Check points for spark, and if they're working, the rotor or cap might be the culprit.
