The warning light (red) stays on Help

The Red warning light goes on lightly when i put the headlights on at night. the belt is ok i know its for the Generator and cooling. But i really cant see it during the daytime. could something be wrong is there something i should worrie about? Could it be a cooling problem? this weekend i took it in the freeway going 55 thats when i seen it. but everything seems fine. like i said it doesnt go bright red just light.oh i think when i turn it gets alittle brighter..

Your electrical system is getting old, and the lights are drawing all the current the generator puts out. This is normal on 6-volt cars. Other symptoms would include the engine missing under acceleration at night.

You might want to spend some time cleaning your electrical connections and grounds, replacing battery cables, etc., but as long as the car starts and the light goes out during the daytime, you're golden.
