Could you please check out this 66 beetle.....

Post by Pastdown »

Hi peeps,

This is my first post and hopefully not my last.

I'm looking at buying a 66 beetle and I was wondering if you guys and girls could take a look at a couple of photos and tell me what you think, and if anything is wrong with it.

I've owned a few bugs in the past but never a 66.

Are the seat correct for the year, a friend of mine said they might be out of a 65.

I haven't seen the car in the flesh, I'm off to view it next week. The seller said that's it's been in the same family since April 1966, they also said its mostly og paint but I'm not sure if that's correct, it looks too shiny.

Thank you for your time.

Rob

Without a doubt it has '66 seats and the correct door panels too. they were one year only in the USA and I'm a little envious to see a set in such good shape. take care of them :)

Looks good to me: While I'd get killed driving a RHD car in the NC mountains, the shoulder belts would look better in my 66.
Looks like a solid original, everybody's dream!

Looks nice! Might need some seat covers or minor cosmetics, but she's a beaut! Good luck - hope it looks as nice in person.

Seats are definitely correct. '66 seats (in US export models) have a one year only pattern - basktweave centers stiched to plain vinyl borders on both the seat back and seat bottom cushion. Also have a one year only seat back locking and release mechanism. The release is down near where the seat back meets the seat bottom and is a handle you lift up. Beginning with 1967 models, the release was moved to a lever on the side of the seat back. Chris
