Auto choke

Post by steveirving »

I have a 66 bug, 1300cc, with a 30 pict 1 carb on it. After my tune up I was checking the choke and noticed the choke is able to open the butterfly about 70% open/vertical, but this little bit of resistance prevents the choke spring from allowing it to open the other 30%.

Is this a concern?

I think the sides of the butterfly are touching the walls of the carb.

Choke

Simple question....how far open is the butterfly valve supposed to open?

Straight 90 degrees up? Or is mostly open good enough?

Depends on how cold out it is. In warmer weather, 70 percent is fine.
