Distributor

Post by steveirving »

Hi,

I'm having a problem tightening my 009 distributor after conducting timing adjustment. It seems the clamp tightens down until both side touch and this still is not enough to hold it the distributor body from moving slightly while driving.

Thoughts?

The clamp may have bent due to to over tightening. Take the distributor out and remove the clamp and make sure is is flat. Where it bolts to the case it will of course raise up a bit. Otherwise, it should be flat. If not, the part the bolts go through is large enough to allow the boly to get a bit sideways and that is why the calmp is bending. Take it oof and you will see what I mean. To stop it from happening add something around the bolt inside the clamp to keep it from becoming askew. Hope that helps.
