lower door hinge

Just purchased a '66 1300 that is very original; however, the driver's lower door hinge is loose (attached to the post but not the door); is this a common issue? Is there a simple solution or any solution? It's intended to be a daily driver but I like to keep my vehicles original. Any info/input would be appreciated.

If the hinge is detached at the door, it will require welding or drilling and screws installed. Get the Bentley VW 1200 workshop manual (also covers the '66) for the hinge replacement procedure.
