Headlight Construction / Parts / Missing?

Post by OakBehringer »

I just took apart the headlights on my recently acquired '66 to find that they are missing about half the parts. I've been able to source most of them, except for the "tension spring [that] sits in these little tabs:"

Now - I have also read that "Not all lights used the tension spring. If your adjustment screws are in the 5 and 7 o'clock positions, like the ones in the photo, then you will have the springs. If your adjustment screws are in the 2 and 7 o'clock positions, there will be no spring. Instead, the screws are held to the inside of the trim ring with a rubber bushing and a small metal washer/clamp so that turning the screw will not allow the threads to back out of the ring."

Mine are in the 2 and 7 o'clock positions, which I believe is correct for 1966.

Can y'all tell me if your 66 has the tension springs pictured above? I just can't figure out if I'm supposed to have them.

Thanks a bunch,
Adam

Right. '66 doesn't have the spring. It was the earlier buckets.

Woohoo! Thanks.

Anyone know of a source for the metal push guides/adjusters? I'm missing one. E.g the piece that is between the bucket and the adjustment screw.

Thanks!
