what year hood?

Post by Fatsam »

I just bought a used hood for my project 66. It has vent louvers at the top, it is a 3 tab, and the surface for the emblem is raised. Can someone tell me what years these were used? Thanks.

The hoods with the vent and pushbutton handle are for '68 and later. Your car uses a hood from '63 to '66. (Earlier if yoi fill the crest holes and '67 if you want to redrill the trim holes.)

Will it fit if I'm not using a front apron? Does anyone have any idea how much longer the nose is on the earlier hoods?

It will work if you change the apron (or no apron at all), but then you'll have a '66 that looks like a '68.

Thanks. That's cool. I'm building a volksrod out of it anyways. I was lookin for the longer hood so it would cover more of the beam. Just not sure how much longer a 66 is? Is it worth the hunt?

Thanks. Ya, that might be worth the hunt. Might use this one for mock up first. If anyone close knows of where one is, let me know.
