Stuck in 2nd... uhg

Post by nbl78s »

I am new here, well actually I have been a "lurker" for some time now but just became a member.

I have researched on here to figure out how to get my bug out of second gear and I have tried all the basics. No luck - I have found references to going through the drain plug to push it out... However I can't find detailed instructions anywhere. Has anyone actually done this with success and if so, where can I find instructions?

Thanks a ton!

First the obvious question, the shift cage in the tunnel under the back seat is okay, right?

If the sfifter isn't broken, it's most likely a shift rod issue, requiring removal of the nosecone to find the problem.

Yep, I checked all the easy stuff. Before I remove the transmission and the cone my research shows a last ditch chance to pop it out of gear by going through the drain hole. Instructions are vague though, looking for someone with experience in this procedure. :D
