1300cc dual port engine

Post by First66' »

I would like some more information on my 66' VW Beetle I just bought. On the motor there are two numbers I found. Zundfolge 1-4-3-2 and I know that means the firing oder, but under that it says B 6270082. Also my beetle has dual ports and I thought they only came in single ports. So let me know what you guys know. Thanks.

Welcome to VW ownership. Here's some fun trivia for ya. The VW 1300, 1500, and 1600 engine cases are all identical, and interchangeable. It's very common to rebuild a 1300 into a 1600 dual port, which is probably what you've got. All the parts are slip-in or bolt-on.

What's even more exciting is that visually, you can't tell a dual port 1600 apart from a 2332 stroker engine either. They look the same, though if you measure them you'll note the 2332 is a couple inches wider. You have to measure the head bores and the stroke on the crank throw to really tell what you're dealing with.
