Speedo Help

Post by haybales »

I purchased my 66 last summer. Use it for my daily, gotta love being able to do that. My speedo is starting to make a loud grinding noise, not sure what is up with that. Is this something I can fix myself??

Thanks Everyone and I love this place!!

Could be the speedo cable needs to be lubricated. unscrew it and put some dry graphite lube in there and see if that helps out. Mine used to do that when it got cold out (around freezing), and that's what took care of it for me.

A little graphite might help, but more likely your speedo is on its way to the great speedo graveyard in the sky. A rebuild or replacement might be in the offing.

Dead Speedo

Post by CharlieC66 »

Hi,

My recently acquired 66 Bug has a dead speedo, cable is fine. Options to find a good used one, rebuilt one or repair the one in the car. Any and all help welcome, GPS is more accurate bot not authentic to 66. :(
