Engine serial number

I am trying to determine the serial number of the engine in my bug. Here is a picture of what I think is the serial number. The picture is the alternator stand, in the center of the serpentine belt. IF, this is the correct number, is it correct that this engine is a '68\'69 engine?

Nope. H case, 1500 CC, the engine was originally kicked out of the factory November/December 1966 for a '67 model.

That doesn't mean it's still a 1500CC original engine though, that just tells you what it started as.
