bug runs, shifts, moves but when I floor it.......

Post by calitex »

When I floor it the car moves but the engine revs high. I did notice some vibration in the clutch. I'm not too mechanically inclined so I can only assume. Could this be my clutch going out? If shifts ok, weird thing is... press clutch all the way down, start it up, DO NOT PRESS GAS PEDAL, let the clutch spring back up... normally the car would jump and turn off, but now it just moves forward slowly and stays on. any clues?

Try adjusting the clutch. You should have 3/4" of free play in the clutch pedal when it's adjusted properly. If that doesn't help, you're likely going to have to pull the motor and take a look at the pressure plate and clutch disc to see what kind of shape they're in.

Sounds like a slipping clutch. Check for oil leaks from the front main seal.

Yeah, it was a bad clutch and throw bearing. replaced both. Runs good now.
