roaring rear end when up to 40

ok wehn i get up to 40 i hear a roar or moan but its hard to hear it over my tires roaring whe i got faster but i t def. cuts through wich is why im just now noticing it. after driving a lil on flat. it sounds like its coming from the side that went flat wich has mysteriously stopped leaking.anyways i got no play in the wheels so im not sure if its a wheel bearing but idk, yet where to begin any help would be greatly appreciated! and i alost forgot my bug is a 62baja not sure about the year of the engine but i was told my transaxle is from a type 2.

Is it coming from the fron or rear of the car?

Did you check to make sure the trans is full of gear oil?
