Seat alternatives.

I was looking and my destroyed '66 front seats today and was wondering if Miata or some other seat I can find at the junkyard cheap would go in to my beetle convertible without much hassle. Any ideas?

My '66 came with the seats from a late '90's eclipse in them. The PO took the lower seat frame and welded a flat plate to it, then bolted the eclipse seats on. You could do something similar.
