wheel paint color

Post by NEredbug »

I would like to paint my rims when I have new tires put on in the near future. I'm not sure I'm reading the color chart correctly, so is L87 Pearl White the correct color? And is the other L41 black? My rims are pretty faded and the dark color almost looks like a very dark shade of blue. Thanks for any help, I just want to make sure I have them painted the correct color.

What color was/is your car?

Most '66 stock colors had L87 Pearl White. The exceptions being a couple of the blues, the rim paint for those would have been L289 Blue-White (sea blue and Bahama Blue respectively)

Thanks for the info. My VW is factory red so I'll go with pearl white and black. Thanks again!

I love the OEM two-tone look. Be sure to post pictures when you're finished.

Thank you, I will. Trouble is, everything else will still be faded red, but thought this was the time to paint the wheels while I'm putting new tires on. Take care!

Our 66 VW has Pearl White outer rim and a brownish center section.
As I remember our 61 was the same when new.
