Antenna location.

Post by Rudolph65 »

My '66 has the radio delete plate. However it does have an antenna. It's located at the base of the driver side "A" pillar. I've seen all other '66's with the antenna on the driver front 1/4. There's no evidence that my vehicle ever had it there. Was there a mid year change or something? Confused. :?

What is your Vin/production month? They were not changed until '67 model year as far as I know. You would have to remove the antenna and see if the hole looks factory formed or from a drill bit. The A-pillar antenna became the std issue after 67, and may have come with a template. Any good mechanic could drill for and install one.

Radios were dealer install as well. There's not a "standard" location for them until '67 when VW put in the A pillar bung. you'll find them on both sides and in many configurations depending on dealer inventory.
