Shift knob Pattern?

Post by Heather »

Who knows on our year '66 was there a shift pattern on the knob. My knobs are Grey so i'm replace the wooden one that is on it. I ordered a plain Grey one from Wolfsburg West but is that correct or did it have pattern?

Guess I found the answer and it's No there wasn't a shift pattern per a Bug guy who is a B.B.T. parts dealer but that company offers a knob with a pattern.
I'm gonna stick w/ the stock sylte knob.

I've seen shift pattern stickers for the ash tray but for '68 and later models. For us, I don't know if there was one displayed in the car from the factory, though it would have been in the manuals for sure. The stock mushroom top knob didn't have a shift pattern on it.

You are quite right, there was no shift pattern on '66's they had the plain black/grey/ivory knob, but for '66 dealers stuck an oval decal on the dash above the ashtray. I have one NOS in my car and you'll se them in the photos I post for you. When my laptop behaves.
