Jimbo In Reno's Bug

Post by Jimbo In Reno »

I guess there is no use in using the Introduction forum. A wrench has now been turned and a restoration, or as I call it. Just keeping it running and looking as nice as an old vehicle can. So far not too much has been done. The engine still looks like it sat in a field for 30 years. Has a transmission leak. But for now I am enjoying driving it around and getting used to the car. And reintroducing myself to the bouncing tin can with a fan. And loving every second of it. I have owned 7 different air-cooled VW's. And this one does not disappoint. It's been a month and there have been things added to the list. And a few knocked out. I have my first functioning dome light. Weird to have light inside. Ignition switch, but ordered the wrong VW keys so I must wait for the cool keys. And the passenger side window rolls up and down. Although still a bit tougher than I like. Some adjustments needed still but it'll get there. Replaced the fuel gauge. The needle was broken on the Gasolina one that was in there. Went into a shop around here, Fibercraft. Good bunch of dudes. Shot the breeze for 2 hours so that was fun. And they lined me up with that OEM gauge, 5 fuses and a gas cap gasket for $50. Better than the plastic aftermarket gauge for the same price. Now back at work for 3 long shifts. Then back at it. Funny how small they are even compared to smaller vehicles.

Very Nice Jimbo! I have a working dome light as well, but I keep it switched off as I don't trust myself when it comes to getting the door shut tight.

I just couldn't resist. For 30 smackers, Still in the packaging. Gave me a reason to take her for a spin. Easy install.

So Sea Blue huh? Cool. Now I won't feel guilty painting her.

Interesting! I thought your interior was original and it really looked like Bahama Blue. Sea Blue is a nice color as well...
