Interior Swatches

I recently bought my 66 bug and one of the first things I did was remove the door cards to reglue the vinyl down. On the passenger side door, behind the clear plastic, I found 3 swatches for the interior. By the way, my carpet and headliner appear to be original to the car. The swatches match the car. The seats however have been redone, so that swatch does not match my current seats.
My question is, has anyone ever heard of or seen swatches hidden in the door from the factory?

Those are just friction items, put there to eliminate any possible squeaks.
