Need a door

SO my wife hyper extended my driver side door to the point where I feel I need to replace the whole door. Where can you buy a complete door assembly? or at least a shell? Do It doesn't seem like they sell doors as a complete piece, just the skins and such.

You can't buy a "new" door ...unless you can find a new old stock (NOS) door somewhere, which is extremely unlikely ....perhaps more likely if you have an newer aircooled beetle, and you have some connections in Mexico or Brazil.

So ...you need to be looking for a used door from a wrecking yard, or donor car. Check out the ads on www.thesamba.com or the ads on this forum.

Depending on how much you want to pay in shipping costs, I could sell you a complete driver or passenger door for a 66 ....so, they can be had, you just have to look. You can expect to pay anywhere from $100 and up (plus shipping) for door in any kind of shape.

The hinges can be replaced with those from a donor door. The procedure is in the Bentley Volkswagen 1200 service manual (also ideal for our '66 models).
