Hub cap removal tool

Post by Digger89L »

Here's a (perhaps) dumb question: how is the hub cap removal tool designed to be used? Loop a finger thru the tool, or use the jack handle by putting one end thru the tool, and leveraging against the rubber tire??? I have one of the newer, non-circular hub cap pullers, and its a bit of a tight fit to get a gloved finger thru the smallish loop. The owners manual simply says to "take off the hub cap using the removal tool.."

I believe it's used with the jack handle against the tire.

Yeah, I had figured that out ...it was just curious that VW never bothered to explain. Kinda like saying "use the jack to lift the car and remove the wheel" ...without really saying "how" to do it.

The difference from then to now is back then there were no warnings on lawnmowers that said "Do not use lawn mower as a hedge trimmer". People kind of figured it out. That is a joke.....

BTW, I looked through the stock manual and it has no pictures just says "take the wheel cap off with the removal tool".

Yes, I know. That's were I got the quote in my original post.

BTW ....I know (not from experience!) that a lawn mower would make a lousy hedge trimmer ...HOWEVER .......I have used a hedge trimmer as lawn mower!! (to get at tall weeds and grass growing bewteen the deck and the house!) LOL

Hey ....if we can't have a bit of fun at this VW stuff, what's the point, eh? I've been known to find humour in the oddest places!!
