my 66 vert died on the hwy

So…going 55mph on the hwy - my bug just died. no power. No Eng or Alt lights on the bottom of the speedo...…Car cranks…dome light working battery good… Fuel pump and alternator?
Help please…

The "dummy" lights get power off the 6 or 12 volt ignition side of the starting circuit. I would check the voltage at the coil to see that you have 6 or 12 volts with the key on. Then track back from there. It maybe just the wire worked loose.

You say the starter works. So if there is no power to the coil you can run a jumper from the positive battery post to the coil and it should start if you have fuel.

To check for fuel take off the line to the carb and crank the engine to see if fuel is coming from the pump. Next, take off the air cleaner and pump the throttle to see if fuel sprays.

I agree with Dar. Sounds like the coil wire came off.
