back seat back rest

!966 bug, How is the back seat back rest removed? There is a carpet attached that makes the floor of the cargo area when the seat is in the down position. I have it loose from the seat back but I don't see how the carpet attaches at the hinge area.

When you pull the rear seat forward and lay it flat, you should see a metal strip at the base of the seat back. It is attached by screws. The carpet is two pieces held together by that strip. Once the carpet is free, you can remove the seat back at the hinge points.

There is also a track that the edge of the carpet is tucked into. With the backrest half way up I could take it out. Yay!

It's a pain fighting something in the car, but it's just as satisfying to complete a project.
