Post by triggy »

Hi, my car has j tubes , read somewhere that certain outlets had to blocked off why is this, cant see any outlets blocked off on any of my tin where, think bi read about it on here but did not understand what it meant. Does any have any pics showing the exact places that need blocking off, also read something about drilling a hole in the center off the caps.

J Pipes

Post by darzoom »

J Pipes are used when there is no heat exchanger in use. The areas that need to be blocked off are where the black tubes in diagram exit fan shroud and the holes in the rear sheet metal where the black tubes connect the fan shroud output to the heat exchanger. The lower holes need to be blocked to keep hot air from re-entering the engine compartment which was designed to only intake air from the vent above the decklid. The shoroud needs to be blocked to keep all the cooling air from exiting the shroud before it blows across the cyliners and heads keeping them cool. Good luck.
