Hinge GURUS

Post by raycer60 »

I recently purshased my 66 S.P.D. When I found her it was a cold rainy day and I basically focused on the fact that she had a decent motor and tranny. So I picked her up this past saturday and drove her home, about 18 miles. It was scary when I got her up to about 55! Yesterday I found out her ball joints are all shot and thats the reason she was wondering all over.
Now, the hinges. Anyone with input on how to go about these? Can I get replacement sheet metal for upper and lower hinge attachment spots?
If I can fix these spots, the rest of the vehicle is not to bad (i think!) or at least thats what my significant other needs to believe :).

There are many in the market that offer. I purchased mine from here:

They have a wide variety and it was OEM thickness when I bought it. If doing the work you should alos consider replacing the hinge pins while you are at it. It is teadious work but you will be proud to know you did it when finsihed. Good Luck!

darzoom, thanks for the link. I found other things that had to be taken care of first but I am getting close to having to fix these hinges. And you are right, "It is teadious work but you will be proud to know you did it when finsihed" is why I like to work on it myself.
