Hi.
My alternator has recently been giving off some squicky noise (that I initially thought was the fun belt).
Fortunately or unfortunately, it started jamming to rotate. I'd thought it was the fun being held by something.
I managed getting the fun out but having a hard time dismantling the bolt/nut that holds the main "shaft". The jam is from inside the alternator.
Anybody know how I can get to the "inside" easy?
What could be the problem even as I try get in to view??

Just to make sure we're talking about the same thing, you should have a 6 volt system with a generator. An alternator would indicate a 12 volt system.
Here's a picture of the generator.

Here's a picture of an alternator.

I haven't had an alternator apart, so I can't comment on how to do it. Most people replace it with a new or rebuilt unit when the go bad. You may have a local shop that can rebuild it.

Alternator Rebuild
Hey Hercdriver- i have an alternator (12v).
I managed ripping it apart- didn't get any source on how to- wish I had a camera to create a video on how.
The bearing is what is messed. Will replace tomorrow and feed back.
Cheers

Alternator Rebuild
Hey Hercdriver,
pardon me for not feeding back.
The rebuild was a success... I got the bearing (interesting hoe available and very affordable this things are). Replacing was like a walk in the park.
At first, the alternator didn't charge...just to realize I had worn out brushes. Rplaced them as well and we're good....
A slight problem though, the charge light indicator doesn't totally go off and I experience low battery especially in the night after using lights.... Think I will replace the bat (might have been due as well) and see...other than that, I'm good to go.
Thanks for the follow-up.
