Squicking Noise on clutch pedal release

Post by KKV270 »

Hi.

I have been having an annuisant noise that seems to be getting louder. It sounds like some metal joint terribly out of oil....this is on release of the clutch pedal.

The noise comes from the cable tunnel (how unfortunate it is close to imposible to see the inside- or am i wrong?)

what could be happening?

Noise

Sounds like the clutch cable tube has broken loose from the tunnel. You will need to determine where with a flexible scope inserted from the back into the tunnel. You can rent a flexible scope from tool rental place and I think Oreilys lends them for free. Once you fine wher it is broken you will have to cut the tunnel and re-weld as needed. When it happened to min I removed the old one and put in a new one. It required I cut the tunnel in two places to do the work. One between the eatsa dna one near the front just behind where the tube ends. If you have the tools it is an easy repair. IF you don't I would take it to someone who does.

Sticking Noise on Clutch pedal release

Hi darzoom,

thanks man. I really appreciate your feedback. Though without access to the scope tool you're mentioning, I'd be willing to try out with say a tethiscope and listen through.
As for the tools to fix, I'll get assistance- I'm without the tools.....what I'm glad is having a hint on what needs to be done.

Fix

Post by darzoom »

You can find it with the scope when someone pushes the clutch in. Plan on them opening it up and replacing the whole tube. That way it will last another 47 years. I have no idea on the cost. It will probably take about 2-3 hours minimal and they will need a welder to fix it as it is welded in. Good luck!
