Wiper switch removal

Post by KKV270 »

Hi.
Been working on my bug step by step...and been running smoooothly for a long while.

I recently re-fit the wiper water bottle...which worked fine on testing sessions. All of a sudden, the spray wouldn't stop thus always draining all the water. I believe the return spring on the switch (that is if it uses that) is worn-out.

I would like to attempt a service on the same but can't get that switch out of the dash board. Any advice on how to go about it??

There's a special took to remove the escutcheon. It has two pins that fit in the slots. A quick Google search yields this:

Problem is even with the tool it can be hard to remove the escutcheon without gouging the aluminum. Penetrating oil applied from behind the dash can help.
