Source for 6 volt bulbs??
Source for 6 volt bulbs??
While I'm gathering up bits and pieces for my 66 restore project, I started noodling around on the net for 6 volt light bulbs. Wow ...I couldn't believe some of the prices being asked!!! Anyone aware of a "reasonable" source for 6 volt replacement bulbs??
6 volt bulbs are available at http://www.bughaus.com - $1.50 each for double filament and $1.25 each for single filament. Not a bad price considering these bulbs are German. They do have a minimum shipping fee of $8.95 so it's only a good deal if you can combine the order with other parts that you need anyway.
source for 6 volt bulbs?
Digger (SK),
Have you found cip1.ca yet?.
I find prices acceptable and often free delivery.
Summer sale on now, I believe.

Hey, Glenner, thanks for the heads up. I'd been to their site before, but didn't "drill down" deep enough to find the lights. Now that I'm familiar with how their search process works, I might find other stuff that I probably would have asked stupid questions about!!! They have the 6 volt sealed beam headlamps I'm looking for ....only $13.60. They're out of stock right now, so hope they get more soon.
My 66 still has the Hella clear headlight covers, and the Hella lenses in the front and rear signal light housings, as well as the Hella lens in the license plate light ...however the bulbs are getting a little "tired" ...
I came across a guy locally that has about 8 early-to-late 60's bugs that he has (sadly) removed the pans and running gear from (to make dune buggies and sand rails). I hope to get permission to strip some small parts from them before he sends them to the crusher
....that should include some bulbs, lenses and other useful small items.

Checked out the source for used bulbs ..not good because everything was also old and weak. I think the best sources I've come across so far are California Import Parts ...both in the USA (http://www2.cip1.com/) and in Canada (www.cip1.ca). Prices are about the same in both Canada and USA ...which is somewhat amazing. Search under Electrical / Tuning and then Exterior Lighting.
