Hi.
I need sound advice....
I currently have to bring my engine down to have my manifold well replaced. However, i have had pending issues to be addressed.
Cylinder 3 and 4 have oil leaking into the heads (I believe worn-out rings). Besides that, the engine runs perfect.
I had recently acquired the car (8months ago) which had been parked for 12 yrs. I have used it through all this while (having done the necessary servicing and tune-ups).
Is it necessary to split the engine apart or can I simply remove the heads and replace the rings?
What would warrant a full rebuild over part service as what I state above????
Full Engine Rebuild VS Part Servicing????

Did you do a compression test? If the compression is low, you can shoot oil in the spark plug holes. If the compression goes up it's bad rings. If it stays low it's a bad valve.
Things that would warrant a full rebuild include high mileage, a tendency to overheat and excessive crank end play. You can probably just get away with an upper end rebuild. Instead of just new rings, I'd want new cylinders and pistons and a valve job on the heads.
