Seat cover styles
Question about the style of vinyl seat covers offered in the 66 bug. In the 1966 bug that I owned back in 1969, the black seat covers had the basketweave pattern on the centre panels of the seats, and a smooth panel on each side of the seat face and seat back, like in the attached photo of the interior of the bug I owned in 1969. I'm having this debate with Mammoth Auto Accessories: they tell me that the 66 bug was also available with OEM seat covers that had the basketweave pattern on the FULL seat face and back. Anyone want to chime in on this??

I don't know of any '66 beetles that had full width basket weave on the seats.
Don't believe these guys, the '66 interior (seats and door panels) was a one year only deal as we all know. basket weave in the center and smooth on the outer edges. Waste no more time with them as Wolfsburgwest has the correct front seat covers just as you describe. The rear seat isn't 100 % correct but near enough.
There was cloth option for some models, but not full width basket weave - until '67.
Believe me I have some sets of iriginal '66 seats
