Hi.
I was inspecting my VW exhaust problems (very noisy - as though it were a poorely adjusted valve clearance) and realized it is resulting from a weak joint of the exhaust at the place close to the cylinder head (on one side- right hand side).
This must have happened when I hit a major pot hole. Sad thing is the bolt doesn't tighten. The threads are gone. The advice I seek is what is the way to get the problem fixed? Is there a nut on the inside or does the bolt screw into a solid body? How easy is it removing the whole exhaust from this jjointed point at the cylinder head area?
Kindly assist.

Exhaust Problem
Hi Blue Baron.
Thank you for your feedback. Any way possible to make me know more the nature of work involved? Any special tools? A step-by-step on what needs to be done to get the job done?

Exhaust Problem
Hi.
Thanks to all for your feedback. Good news. I replaced the gasket and fit in two new bolts. Only one tightens while the other keeps on screwing. I put come gun gum to seal the the place as well.
Was so excited, after an hour or saw, cranked the enginen and it sounded off the "beetles whistle"
Glad to be back.
