66 vw bug trunk lid

Post by boss hogg »

I have a 66 bug that my son had a accident with. We replaced the front fenders and front apron with new parts. We replaced the trunk lid with a used part that looked the same & was told it was the correct hood. With the fenders and apron in place I cannot get the hood to line up properly Could it be the hood is incorrect? Any suggestion as to identify the correct hood?
Thanks

66 Bonnet

Front end damage is always hard to align the sheet metal, and the bonnet changed over the years and are not all interchagable, Post photos.
An old car nut who got his driver's license in a new 1961 VW and has owned 10 VW's (1957-1972) since then. Favorite was the 67's (2), but the 66 is the longest owned and current VW.

Also, aftermarket lids are notorious for not fitting. They're usually too small.
