The VW Beetle: A Production History of the Worlds most Famous Car, 1936-67. Ryan Lee Price. 170 Pages. Soft Cover.

This one may need to be a "Must Have" only because it has the right mix of history, pictures, and list changes model year to model year and when those changes took place (with corresponding VIN numbers). Very comprehensive - highly recommend!
