Front End Assembly

Post by Dan D »

Would a front end assembly including steering gear box from a 1973 bug fit on a 1966 bug with no modifications?

Lots of changes for Federal safety regs in between there. In general, I think it should all fit, provided it's a 1973 standard and not a super beetle. If it's a super, everything is completely different. You'll probably want to use your earlier steering column and whatnot and make sure that everything measures up correctly.

It is from a standard 73 bug. It looks the same and what I could measure I thought it would line up.

I'll use my existing steering as you suggested.

I appreciate the input, I didn't want to tear it out and find out it would not fit.

Thanks,

Dan

it should bolt right up, the biggest change being the four-lug wheels instead of five.
