Seat belt help
Seat belt help
I'm trying to fit seat belts in the back of my 66 Bug convertible. Can anyone provide pictures of the possible mounting points or drilling spots. Thanks!

Re: Seat belt help
You mean the rear seat? There should be mounting points behind the seat. If you mean the front seats, yes, the original outside belt mountings were in the pan and you'll need to drill holes.wmaske wrote:I'm trying to fit seat belts in the back of my 66 Bug convertible.
I'm sorry for the confusion. It is the rear seats I'm working on. You are right, not the pan. I have what look like plastic screws setting next to each other in the middle and one bolt in the floor along the left wall. I think there maybe another bolt on the other side but that area is covered in some kind of gunk at the moment. I'll take some pictures in the morning since I know I am confusing.

I am still looking for the outer bolts that are supposed to be next to the seat back bolts. I read in another post that the bolts that hold the back seat are the outer mounts for the belts as well on the 66. Is that right? I have peeled carpet back and checked under the side panel and can not find any bolts or threaded holes. I easily found the ones with the plastic phillups head in the middle.
OK, after more research I guess 'some' peeps say the seat back bolts are not strong enough to hold up in a accident. Man, that would have to be quite the impact to rip those bolts from the metal. Seems pretty strong to me, I will leave them for now.
