Okay, I'm doing the tune up procedure to the specs of "How to keep your VW alive":
Take off distributor cap, pull the rotor.
Pull hose from distributor to carburetor.
Suck on the hose and watch the points plate move.
I do not have points, the po instaled an electronic ignition conversion kit.
So my ? is, what do I look for, I still have a vacuum advance with hose running to carb, but I don't see any movement.
What to do?
The plate that holds the points - or in your case the electronic ignition (i suppose something in the lines of the "Ignitor") - SHOULD move when you suck on the hose.
If the Vaccum advance does not work will the car still run?
I don't really see the plate moving, but the car doesn't stall out either when on the road.
Would it and should I be concerned?
I installed a pertronix drop in in my bus.and left the vac line on it,but all I think it did was plug my line I believe the electronics takes the vac out of the equation like the 009
