So! Who's Running Heaters?

Post by Jimbo In Reno »

Aside from needing cable adjustments to fully close, some clamps, and some heat tape in some spots for good measure. They are working. I've never had heaters before. My buddy back when we were kids had them on his Baja. They burned us out of the car on those cold southern California days. 8) I took it for a spin for about 15 minutes. The vents under the back seats were jammin. I see the cables that I guess should be to close those for more air up front. Not there of course, but not too worried. A bit of air on the floors. The plastic on the windshield was warm. Seems to be a good start. Now it will start to get warm and I'll plug em I'm sure.

So who is using them? What are your pros and cons? Do they keep you warm enough in your climate? I imagine they would help with rust issues.

I love those heaters positioned under the rear seat, but especially the lower ones near the driver's feet...it took me a long time to fix the control levers in between seats that kept going limp, but when I replaced the worn out "washers"...that was a game changer! That being said, I'm in Southern California...so our cold mornings in the 40's are laughable compared to the rest of the country...

I have no issues with the heat in my '66. Even Texas can get quite cold in the winter. It usually takes about two to three miles before I can feel the heat coming out of the center defrost port. It's always a nice toasty ride after that.

Back when I had my '72 super beetle, I found the rear heaters had actually melted the wheels on vacuum cleaner I was hauling in the backseat - Yeah, that might have been too much heat!

Melted the wheels? Now that's some heat.
