Hi.
I have been having this problem but it is now calling for urgent attention. My starter doesnt engage the flywheel on the first, second...and nowadays, even fifth crank. at times, it goes on crank one, others, after a number of misses.
What could be the matter? worn_out gears?

Starter problems
Hey Blue Baron,
please enlighten me- what can be done about the matter should it be as you suspect- I don't know what the started solenoid is (will do my research as well). Thanks

Hi.
Thank you Blue Baron. I now know what that thing is and function.
I will conirm this on checking- having learnt about reasons that may be causing the soleniod to misperform, I will check a relay that is connected to my ignition and battery line. I remember it was somewhat faulty by not giving a steady contact on ignition but rather would keep cutting the connection.
I located the relay at the place the battery is placed at the back seat.
Cheers.

Starter problems
Hi.
I finally found the root problem. It was w motor full of carbon that fouled the brush contacts. Also, it was a good opportunity to replace the brushes which were worn out.
I'm back with a very powerful starter- however, might still have to solve a problem that makes the starter miss once in a while (1 or 2 out of 10 starts).
Blue Baron, I believe it is the solenoid but not so sure how to go about it...
